About the Role

A Construction Internship typically involves assisting project managers and
field engineers, organizing documentation, and learning about construction
processes, all while gaining valuable industry experience.

Requirements

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Project Assistance:

    Assist with tasks related to project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and

    execution. 

  • Documentation: Organize, manage, and maintain project documentation, including

  • submittals, RFIs (Requests for Information), shop drawings, and punch

  • lists. 

  • Communication: Facilitate communication between team members, subcontractors, and

  • vendors. 

  • Site Observation: Observe and learn from construction activities on site, gaining practical

  • experience in construction processes. 

  • Administrative Tasks: Assist with administrative duties such as filing, typing, and data entry. 

  • Learning and Development: Expand knowledge of construction industry practices, standards, and

  • technologies through mentorship and on-the-job training. 

  • Safety: Familiarize with safety protocols and ensure compliance with safety

  • regulations. 

  • Field Work: Assist with minor repairs, site maintenance and punch list creation


Skills and Requirements

  • Strong Work Ethic: Interns should be reliable, punctual, and committed to completing assigned tasks to a high standard. 

  • Communication Skills: Possess good written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with team members and stakeholders. 

  • Organizational Skills: Be detail-oriented and organized to maintain project documentation and schedules effectively. 

  • Technical Skills: Be able to learn and use relevant construction software and tools. 

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Be able to identify and address problems that arise on the project. 

  • Teamwork: Be a team player and able to work collaboratively with others. 

  • Basic Math Skills: Have a strong understanding of math to assist with quantity takeoffs and calculations. 

  • Read and Interpret Plans: Be able to understand and interpret architectural and structural plans and specifications. 

  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)


Examples of Specific Tasks:

  • Review policies and procedures within the department.

  • Assist in legal review, risk review, implementation, and budgeting of construction contracts.

  • Prepare and distribute project management communications.

  • Support the development of project analyses.

  • Assist in Right of Way budgeting and invoicing.

  • Maintain a neat and organized field office.

  • Assist with the posting of jobsite As-Builts.
